SCSS Calculator (Senior Citizens Savings Scheme)
The Senior Citizens Savings Scheme is a government scheme for people over 60 that pays fixed interest every quarter. This free SCSS calculator solves for whichever value you leave blank and shows the formula and steps.
How to use the SCSS calculator
Enter the deposit amount (up to ₹30 lakh) and the interest rate (currently 8.2%). You get the interest paid every quarter, its monthly equivalent, the yearly total and the total interest over the 5-year term. The deposit is returned at maturity.
SCSS formula
Quarterly interest = Deposit × Rate ÷ 4
Interest is paid on the first working day of April, July, October and January. It is simple interest — it does not compound unless you reinvest it.
